American Land Title Association

The American Land Title Association is the national trade association for the title insurance industry. ALTA is committed to protecting the integrity of the title insurance industry and also offers resources for consumers about title insurance.

Fannie Mae

Fannie Mae is a government-sponsored enterprise chartered by Congress to keep money flowing to mortgage lenders. Fannie Mae is a national mortgage finance company. They do not offer home loans, but securitize or buy the mortgage loans originated by lenders.

Freddie Mac

Freddie Mac was created by Congress to work with mortgage lenders. They focus on three business lines: single family credit guarantee for home loans, multifamily business for apartment financing and an investment portfolio. Much like Fannie Mae, they do not offer home loans directly, but securitize and buy loans from lenders.
